Representasi etnoforestri dan kearifan tempatan dalam novel-novel Shahnon Ahmad (Representation of ethnoforestry and local wisdom in the novels of Shahnon Ahmad)

Abstract
Kajian ini meneliti penerapan elemen etnoforestri dalam tiga buah novel terpilih karya Shahnon Ahmad, iaitu Rentong (1965), Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan (1966) dan Srengenge (1973), berasaskan kerangka etnoforestri yang dikemukakan oleh Deep Narayan Pandey. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti dan menghuraikan empat asas utama etnoforestri iaitu perlindungan, perladangan, produksi/perhutanan pertanian, serta tradisi lisan dan sistem kepercayaan sebagaimana yang direpresentasikan melalui watak, latar dan konflik dalam teks-teks tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui analisis kandungan bagi meneliti teks secara konseptual dan hubungan, dengan menumpukan kepada gambaran hutan, tanah, sungai, biodiversiti, sistem nilai dan kearifan tempatan masyarakat Melayu. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa Shahnon Ahmad secara konsisten membina wacana etnoforestri melalui representasi pengetahuan dan kearifan tempatan dalam pengurusan tanah, pemanfaatan sumber hutan, pemeliharaan ekosistem, serta konflik manusia–alam yang berpunca daripada keperluan sara hidup dan perubahan pandangan dunia. Novel-novel ini sekali gus berfungsi sebagai dokumen sastera yang merakamkan hubungan simbiotik antara masyarakat Melayu Kedah dengan alam sekitar pada dekad 1960-an dan 1970-an.
