Kajian ini meninjau kehidupan usahawan asnaf di negeri Kedah yang menerima bantuan zakat dalam program Bantuan Jayadiri. Kertas ini membincangkan secara deskriptif tentang latar belakang peribadi, latar belakang perniagaan dan juga tahap prestasi perniagaan, bantuan zakat, simpanan, motivasi, jaringan dan latihan usahawan asnaf. Data dikumpul melalui soal selidik dan temu bual ke atas 49 orang usahawan asnaf menggunakan persampalen bertujuan di negeri Kedah. Kebanyakan mereka adalah wanita berbangsa Melayu, berkahwin dan berpendidikan di peringkat sekolah menengah, terlibat dalam perniagaan berasaskan makanan yang sedang berkembang. Dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif, kajian ini mendapati prestasi perniagaan, bantuan zakat, motivasi, jaringan berada pada tahap min yang tinggi. Manakala simpanan dan latihan di tahap min sederhana. Dapatan ini menunjukkan usahawan asnaf memerlukan lagi bantuan zakat dan program latihan bagi membantu mereka untuk meningkatkan prestasi perniagaan dan simpanan kewangan seterusnya keluar dari kemelut kemiskinan serta menjadi pembayar zakat pada masa akan datang.
Abstract
This study reviews the life of Asnaf entrepreneurs in Kedah who received zakat aid in the Jayadiri aid programme. This paper discusses descriptive information about personal backgrounds, business backgrounds as well as business performance levels, zakat assistance, savings, motivation, networking and ASNAF entrepreneur training. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews on 49 Asnaf entrepreneurs using purposive sampling in Kedah. Most of them are Malay, married and educated at secondary school levels, engaged in growing food based business. Using a descriptive analysis, it was found that the performance of the business, zakat relief, motivation, network is at high mean level. Savings and training at a moderate mean level. The finding showed Asnaf entrepreneurs need more zakat aid and training programmes to help them enhance their business performance and financial savings beyond the poverty crisis as well as becoming future zakat payer.
