Abstrak

This study aims to examine the influence of eco-labels, personal attitudes, and religiosity on the purchasing behaviours of environmentally friendly products among Muslim youth in Malaysia. Grasping these elements is essential, particularly with the rising attention on sustainable consumption and the critical part young consumers play in fostering environmentally friendly actions. The importance of this investigation is underscored by its concentration on the distinct interaction between environmental and religious values in influencing purchasing behaviour, thus addressing an existing void in the current academic literature. A cross-sectional survey design was applied, obtaining data from a sample of 150 Muslim youths via a five-point Likert scale. The data obtained were analysed using multiple linear regression analysis to establish the significance of the independent variables. The findings demonstrate that eco-labels, personal attitudes, and religiosity were substantial predictors of purchasing decisions regarding green products, with the regression model elucidating 52.9% of the observed variance. The implications of these findings highlight the necessity of incorporating eco-labelling practices, nurturing affirmative attitudes, and advocating for religious values within marketing strategies to promote sustainable consumption. Subsequent research endeavours should consider the examination of additional variables, including economic influences and digital factors, adopt longitudinal methodologies, and enhance sample sizes to improve the generalizability of the findings.
