Pembelajaran Berasaskan Pertandingan: Meneroka Pengalaman Guru Pelatih STEM di Institut Pendidikan Guru dalam Memupuk Karakter MADANI

Malaysia MADANI telah menjadi satu agenda baharu dalam kerangka dasar Malaysia. Rukun madani dilihat selari dengan
“engineering habits of mind” (EHoM) iaitu model pemikiran yang digagaskan dalam STEM dengan kemahiran penyelesaian masalah
dan mampu memindahkan kemahiran tersebut dalam konteks baharu. Tidak banyak kajian meneroka strategi yang dipraktikkan untuk membangunkan minda MADANI dan penjelmaan karakter dalam kalangan guru pelatih di Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPGK). Kertas kajian ini berkongsi aktiviti pembelajaran inovatif daripada pelajar elektif sains di IPGK Darulaman. Satu kajian kes telah dijalankan untuk meneroka pengalaman pembelajaran berasaskan pertandingan pelajar melalui temu bual dan pemerhatian. Analisis data dibuat secara manual menggunakan kaedah pengekodan terbuka dan tematik yang mana interpretasi dibuat untuk memberi makna bagi kejayaan pencapaian daripada 16 orang pelajar. Dapatan membuktikan beberapa siri pencapaian pelajar pada pertandingan antarabangsa telah memberi impak kepada proses kognitif dan pembinaan karakter MADANI pelajar sejajar dengan Model EHoM. Dapatan kajian mendedahkan enam tema utama iaitu karakter 1)Keingintahuan, 2) Keterbukaan, 3)Sumber daya, 4)Kerjasama 5)Ketahanan dan 6) Reflektif. Dapatan ini menjadi satu eviden usaha yang pensyarah IPG lakukan untuk melahiran graduan kompeten dengan karamah insaniah sebagaimana yang tersurat dalam dokumen penilaian program MQA. Kajian ini diharapkan memberi implikasi pada penyelidikan lanjutan pembangunan sahsiah MADANI melalui pembelajaran bermakna.
