Abstract

Museums play an important role in preserving institutional heritage and supporting the educational and learning process. However, conventional museum exhibitions often offer limited opportunities for interaction, particularly in attracting younger generations. This study aims to develop MuseumX, a Roblox-based mobile platform that integrates gamification elements, allowing users to explore the Management Museum of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) interactively. The team developed MuseumX in Roblox Studio using an Agile software development methodology, and it includes exploration activities, quizzes, puzzles, and user interactions with virtual museum exhibits. The team evaluated the application through formative and summative assessments. The engagement evaluation involved 30 UUM students who completed the Game Engagement Questionnaire to measure engagement. MuseumX achieved a high level of user engagement, particularly by creating an attentive, immersive, and interactive museum exploration experience. Overall, MuseumX shows potential as a digital museum learning approach that combines gamification with Roblox-based virtual environments. This study benefits students, educators, and museum management by providing an alternative way to explore the institution’s heritage, increase user engagement, and raise awareness of the UUM Management Museum's collection and history.
